rompers, rompers, rompers!

The main objective for every thrifting adventure I've gone on all summer is to find the most perfect, wonderful romper I've been pining after for nearly a year and a half. It happens the same every time. I find a romper. Adorable print. Get so excited to try it on. Actually do so and it never, ever, never fits! It's heart breaking and I hate it! I'm afraid that due to my build (I'm 5'-8" and have a pretty long torso in comparison to the width of my body) the found rompers always bunch at the crotch and that's never a good thing.

My dream romper is the peach one pictured to the left, but honestly I'm not in a place where I can drop close to $60 on a piece of clothing that's staying power is quite questionable.

Do you fellow bloggers have any interest in rompers? Have you successfully found one? I'd love to know what kind of alterations, if any, were made to make it more modern. I'm looking for any kind of advice as far as rompers go.

i follow to the edge of the earth and fall off.

I know it's been a while since I've posted something, for that I am a terrible blogger and I hope you'll forgive me. The good news is that I'm back!

I'm about done with summer. The tempuratures have been feeling like they break 90 daily and the humidity makes me not want to ever move or venture outside. All this overheating is making me crave the cooler weather that calls for sweaters, scarfs, layers and everything else that comes along with fall. Not to mention Sally Jane Vintage has done a couple of posts about transitioning summer outfits to fall ones, which I think is brilliant.

Even though it was pretty hot when I wore this outfit, I coudn't say no to my brand new zebra print scarf. I paired it with a simple and light cotton v-neck and a short skirt to try make the idea of a scarf in the middle of the summer a little less insane.

What I'm Wearing:
Scarf: Chinatown.
V-neck T-shirt: UNIQLO SoHo.
Skirt: Vintage, Thrifted Charter Club.
Necklace: Forever21.
Shoes: Urban Outfitters.

whisper your blues as heartfelt as you can.

I, above all things, am a city slicker. I enjoy nature, so long as it's manicured and bugs stay far, far away from me. Gardens, sports fields, mowed lawns and tended shrubs are fine, but once you throw me into the real nature I get paranoid and feel like bugs are covering 80% of my body. That being said, busy cities and towns are my favorite places to be. And when I ventured out to the small town of Greenport, it was filled with beach-going tourist and residents walking around, enjoying the weather. I couldn't think of a better way to spend the day.

I enjoy being overdressed (to a certain extent) in public. I love going to the grocery store in heels and I love wearing dresses that are just a bit more than casual to something silly like a class or meeting for work (I work in a theater carpentry shop where I build things and am forced to wear ugly clothes for my safety.) There's just something humorus about it that makes me happy inside. Not to mention I enjoy looking nice.

This outfit is a perfect example of this odd like joy of mine. Heels and shorts in a modest beach town is sure to stand out and turn heads. Add something leopard print, and ta-da! Overdressed without being obnoxious.

What I'm Wearing:
Shorts: Vintage Levi's, thrifted.
Belt and Scarf: Stolen from my wonderful Mom.
Shirt: UNIQLO SoHo.
Jacket: French Connection.
Shoes: Payless.

suddenly now, i know where i belong

I love this outfit, the lace detail and the color of the dress just make me feel like I've found the perfect summer evening dress. The material of the dress is also lovely. It flutters in the slightest bit of wind and as I walk. This dress almost makes me want to twirl and frollick and dance.

I think I also love it because I was wearing it on a day trip I took with my boyfriend. It reminds me of walking the streets of Saratoga Springs pretty aimlessly and the best gellato I've ever had in my life. I love when you get emotional attachments to clothes. It just seems to make them that much better.

What I'm Wearing:
Dress, Belt and Shoes: Vintage, thrifted.
Slip: Thrifted.

if you go, you could be gone forever

I think I'm in love with this tank top. I want to wear it all the time. It's got a built in bra, but it's not simply a tank top with a double lining and an elastic band, it's actually got built in cups and I don't think anything could be more easy or perfect for the summer time. Not to mention I love stripes.

I love the idea of mixing prints and if you've ever tried then you know some times it's difficult. While I was playing dress-up and mixing my patterns and prints, I decided that a simple stripe paired with a bright and colorful floral print was perfect for a stroll on the beach.

Secretly, I love being barefoot. I would choose barefoot over any pair of shoes (well unless they were absolutely drop dead gorgeous). I kind of had a hatred of shoes during my younger years, and only within the past year or two have I started loving a good pair of shoes. But once summer rolls around I take every chance I get to be shoeless and feel the sand in my toes.

What I'm Wearing:
Skirt: Forever 21
Top: UNIQLO SoHo
Belt: Vintage, Mom's Closet
Sunglasses: Gift, Rayban Wayfarers
