I've come into a relatively large amount of free time, so hopefully this won't be a passing fad like it's been in the past. I've also gotten a pretty nice camera set up going on so, I suppose I'll just have to see. And try, which I am definitely going to do.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 297px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiCPJ-yU3qONIzuxlXceLBo4mAD318ArIrcpbjAYYynznCyf5cqAf41aK65GfoCqTMuJ28i1O9JKLnS8iWHr-8kh8WCiSCxB8VqdvkOov3yHE_wbRBANcpnRb4dmE0lqVWM2kmAn5AK7AU/s400/9.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5574446473521105090" />
I'll readily admit to not really being a shoe person. In fact, it's normally where I feel like I fall short as far as my outfits go. Slowly but surely I am beginning to love shoes more and more and get over the silly fear of being even taller than I already am (a tall boyfriend helps this phobia quite a bit). But it doesn't help when you walk into a room and your mom tells you you look like RuPaul. Anyway, I've had all of these articles of clothing for quite a while, but just never paired them together before and I absolutely love the outcome. And oh my goodness is it comfortable.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 266px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj_5B0X-0lVT-B1SsrbqC__uhAJmwM132uL8P93E0LH3QKje4XQu9FCn9T3ekOLJclNKgDZYbqdO3UiaKF6FdX8PmuNauDcGMF8S9KDF-FPH8gizx94YZ7cng-VeD6craNgmkpNd0fPrQ8/s400/8.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5574446784206262306" />
I'm also trying to actively participate on lookbook.nu, so if you'd feel so inclined as to hype me, it would be hugely appreciated!

What I'm Wearing:
Dress & Belt: Vintage, Thrifted.
Top: UNIQLO SoHo
Tights: Sweater Tights, GAP.
Shoes: Randy Wedges, Lucky Brand

What I'm Listening To:
"Sinister Kid" Black Keys

Aurorahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12655564894615535520noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5488252166060233262.post-83801445616782273572010-10-25T19:35:00.002-04:002010-10-25T19:39:48.056-04:00i'm spreading love like a terrorist now

My goodness is taking photos much more difficult than it seems. Personally, I've been looking for a wonderful over-sized black and white striped sweater that's actually in good shape. You'd think it wouldn't be so difficult, but you'd be wrong.

Lace. I want everything to be lace. There is nothing bad about lace.

Muted, cool colors and earth tones. There's something really wonderfully demur about this color pallet that, to me, is exactly what my fall's going to call for. Maybe the powder blue is a little more winter than it is fall, but the hell if I care. That fresh and easy addition of color to the rather typical earthy tones will really stand out without being too loud and hopefully it'll look new and original.

The mod/50's feeling is to be blamed on Mad Men (I finally started getting really into it a few weeks back.)

I can't wait to start putting looks that fit into this inspiration board together. Unfortunately, a day like today in the mid-80's doesn't really allow for sweaters or gloves. It happens the same every time. I find a romper. Adorable print. Get so excited to try it on. Actually do so and it never, ever, never fits! It's heart breaking and I hate it! I'm afraid that due to my build (I'm 5'-8" and have a pretty long torso in comparison to the width of my body) the found rompers always bunch at the crotch and that's never a good thing.

My dream romper is the peach one pictured to the left, but honestly I'm not in a place where I can drop close to $60 on a piece of clothing that's staying power is quite questionable.

Do you fellow bloggers have any interest in rompers? Have you successfully found one? I'd love to know what kind of alterations, if any, were made to make it more modern. The good news is that I'm back!

I'm about done with summer. The tempuratures have been feeling like they break 90 daily and the humidity makes me not want to ever move or venture outside. All this overheating is making me crave the cooler weather that calls for sweaters, scarfs, layers and everything else that comes along with fall. Not to mention Sally Jane Vintage has done a couple of posts about transitioning summer outfits to fall ones, which I think is brilliant.

Even though it was pretty hot when I wore this outfit, I coudn't say no to my brand new zebra print scarf. I paired it with a simple and light cotton v-neck and a short skirt to try make the idea of a scarf in the middle of the summer a little less insane.

What I'm Wearing:
Scarf: Chinatown.
V-neck T-shirt: UNIQLO SoHo.
Skirt: Vintage, Thrifted Charter Club.
Necklace: Forever21.
Shoes: Urban Outfitters.

What I'm Listening To:
"Weird Fishes/Arpeggi" Radiohead.

Photos by Anjuli.Aurorahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12655564894615535520noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5488252166060233262.post-23292722542236054162009-07-27T19:28:00.013-04:002009-07-27T21:56:48.983-04:00whisper your blues as heartfelt as you can.<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 346px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjplhLqwNxTRMmWLboJR-Z_UzV7iByWkb4oowLXwkLcCTOVvr9_G74eL5nkKH_T298LHicSSnZLC1e1wITSvNUS0hBc0SutbhIc42gJIlEqRrl2vANYRRlVA_FWRyLb3TBp3MOz4yzeg-Q/s400/in+order+to+stay+true.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5363286109259762018" />
I, above all things, am a city slicker. I enjoy nature, so long as it's manicured and bugs stay far, far away from me. Gardens, sports fields, mowed lawns and tended shrubs are fine, but once you throw me into the real nature I get paranoid and feel like bugs are covering 80% of my body. That being said, busy cities and towns are my favorite places to be. And when I ventured out to the small town of Greenport, it was filled with beach-going tourist and residents walking around, enjoying the weather. I couldn't think of a better way to spend the day.

I enjoy being overdressed (to a certain extent) in public. I love going to the grocery store in heels and I love wearing dresses that are just a bit more than casual to something silly like a class or meeting for work (I work in a theater carpentry shop where I build things and am forced to wear ugly clothes for my safety.) There's just something humorus about it that makes me happy inside. Not to mention I enjoy looking nice.

This outfit is a perfect example of this odd like joy of mine. Heels and shorts in a modest beach town is sure to stand out and turn heads. Add something leopard print, and ta-da! Overdressed without being obnoxious.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 340px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg74JpOsl_C7Qjj54qnOZrJZBEeJcwOzjJAG9w4_92l3nnx1jdfBUNSGSkOfcArjI00lSdOipQEjnBQtG0OVWBsNiVgLVoodM1jhbh3ZM_W20QMBfHtIWpbXzIiOZDdCPRqjI4s0_Hr2NM/s400/tricks+tend+to+track+you+down.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5363289211230667586" />
What I'm Wearing:
Shorts: Vintage Levi's, thrifted.
Belt and Scarf: Stolen from my wonderful Mom.
Shirt: UNIQLO SoHo.
Jacket: French Connection.
Shoes: Payless.

What I'm Listening To:
"On The Tower" Sondre Lerche.

Photos by Anjuli.Aurorahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12655564894615535520noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5488252166060233262.post-41678730059789256082009-07-26T11:22:00.004-04:002009-07-26T23:51:21.527-04:00suddenly now, i know where i belong<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 209px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiag1ynM_jwSUxdL2PqHBVgbiEOqs3llboXsf1vliHIAwlp_jz7GlQoUTFq1q4N0aRbHL9wAIFQGAhzD_ZblL5tGpv4kWNexMMBXdgx2Sb5jkYr3gQPhYs9nu827ZTMHvCezlog5aV9jzc/s400/traveling+north+to+find+you.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5362635772347981122" />
I love this outfit, the lace detail and the color of the dress just make me feel like I've found the perfect summer evening dress. The material of the dress is also lovely. It flutters in the slightest bit of wind and as I walk. This dress almost makes me want to twirl and frollick and dance.

I think I also love it because I was wearing it on a day trip I took with my boyfriend. It reminds me of walking the streets of Saratoga Springs pretty aimlessly and the best gellato I've ever had in my life. I love when you get emotional attachments to clothes. It just seems to make them that much better.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 302px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh8Xebf72i6e6JEasZxLoAmT5tVuThMaRhzXoCsf_TCd6RmufgxvL_Udd_jUfQwpZPpe0cvNlL6q_I6j9L7n1dENLTsuTTbavZRPPIAltk_z3-FM28Y12Zg4HfjUJcKkyZNFpDq5kgxqwE/s400/love+don%27t+be+surprised.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5362639359344245282" />
What I'm Wearing:
Dress, Belt and Shoes: Vintage, thrifted.
Slip: Thrifted.

What I'm Listening To:
"Train Song" Feist and Ben Gibbard

Photos by Anjuli.Aurorahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12655564894615535520noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5488252166060233262.post-61329730617303088262009-07-23T17:43:00.004-04:002009-07-26T11:01:46.090-04:00if you go, you could be gone forever<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 331px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEit_USdPZ7KBrTSX1ByQ90Vw38EfhUAHhSouyuyUqE1wICJWK_HPKkO7y9pBLtJhIC6Ru7GllyglcEdMaDcei2W_viGwa9eg_qULwBuUGUDCJcQfiOYgIz0hfxwYGp06ezON7OKFqN9g1A/s400/calm+that+wicked+wind.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5361775413206496370" />
I think I'm in love with this tank top. I want to wear it all the time. It's got a built in bra, but it's not simply a tank top with a double lining and an elastic band, it's actually got built in cups and I don't think anything could be more easy or perfect for the summer time. Not to mention I love stripes.

I love the idea of mixing prints and if you've ever tried then you know some times it's difficult. While I was playing dress-up and mixing my patterns and prints, I decided that a simple stripe paired with a bright and colorful floral print was perfect for a stroll on the beach.

Secretly, I love being barefoot. I would choose barefoot over any pair of shoes (well unless they were absolutely drop dead gorgeous). I kind of had a hatred of shoes during my younger years, and only within the past year or two have I started loving a good pair of shoes. But once summer rolls around I take every chance I get to be shoeless and feel the sand in my toes.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 194px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjxcunqtghdmiZ3UL1PNu-yrNm1njMG0QbPhv91lEG8GrWegqVbciJNkK2iu0RjMMTHdIIXVG35HSN2h35ducNOIcYvd16SV4PgZvmTm5fP3bJDUL40xZayoXAgb3dgFyK0ygJsEbctHNY/s400/swear+i+was+blind+before+i+met+you.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5361775535735095458" />
What I'm Wearing:
Skirt: Forever 21
Top: UNIQLO SoHo
Belt: Vintage, Mom's Closet
Sunglasses: Gift, Rayban Wayfarers

What I'm Listening To:
"Butterfly Nets" Bishop Allen

Photos by Anjuli.Aurorahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12655564894615535520noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5488252166060233262.post-14332680439004497812009-07-17T18:08:00.002-04:002009-07-26T11:00:42.805-04:00it was against the law, it was against the law!<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 288px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhYnqq8-9QDGLzo-xiCHmjfr5tKEiWUUMQiSy4LjwwKzhty4GzanL4wYEmx6BpDZE1iZrE6gzAsb_Px8nTJh8wSlo5ubl_uI-xlRNbybaZTLPw0oIU7sAhwrI9oxGGDnVjLcsjz1wf4QTI/s400/every+time+his+name+gets+mentioned.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5359554612210689314" />I think I started off on the wrong foot with my outfit posts. Although I do love my vintage, girly dresses and lovely flowing skirts, my fashion origins are very heavily rooted in a more dirty, rock inspired place. Secretly, I want nothing more than to dress like Alison Mosshart or some other fantastic rockstar every day but I still want to look like myself instead of just a clone or a cheap knock-off. My constant task is trying to blend all of my fashion tastes into one delicious vat of style.

I think this outfit is a very good start. I have my girly, flowing white dress on top of a black and white striped scoop neck tank and a pair of black shorts. I think the sheerness of the dress is the perfect balance of sexiness and softness. Together with the necklace, boots and vest it really transforms from super feminine to womanly with a punch.

What I'm Wearing:
Scoop Neck Tank: UNIQLO soho.
Shorts: A left-over from my dancer days.
Dress: Thrifted, Originally from India.
Vest: Marshall's.
Boots: Macy's.
Necklace: Vintage, Mom's jewelry box.

What I'm Listening To:
"Me and Julio Down by the Schoolyard" Paul Simon

Photos by Anjuli.Aurorahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12655564894615535520noreply@blogger.com6tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5488252166060233262.post-17593828446370231842009-07-10T16:39:00.002-04:002009-07-26T10:59:46.077-04:00what was i thinking when i let go of you?
I feel terrible about my treatment of this dress. It very rarely sees the light of day, and for that I'm sorry. I came across it when I was assigned to clean out the costume closet in my junior year of high school. It was such a wonderful dress that I simply couldn't let it slip away from me. I asked my teacher if it would be ok if I took it, and she hesitantly said yes. The original game plan was to wear it as my prom dress, but the bodice was just too snug and I felt kind of uncomfortable in it. I can't even count how many times I would just put on the dress and stare at it in the mirror wishing I felt comfortable enough to leave the house in it.

I've lost a bit of weight since I inherited the dress and now I fit into it, but I just can't get the image of what I used to look like in it out of my head. I feel like all the little imperfections are the only things people can see because they're so blaringly obvious to me. Originally I took photos in the dress with the intention to sell it, but after seeing the photos and just how wonderful this dress is, I just can't say goodbye.

What I'm Wearing:
Dress: Vintage 1970's Gunne Sax Dress.

What I'm Listening To:
"I Am Trying To Break Your Heart" Wilco

Photos by Anjuli.Aurorahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12655564894615535520noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5488252166060233262.post-57707960501926258972009-07-03T15:38:00.001-04:002009-07-26T10:57:27.666-04:00you look like you've seen a ghost...
So summer has finally decided to show up here in New York and I still can't help myself when it comes to dark colors. I wore this outfit on a play-date with a friend in her beatifully manicured backyard. I think the reason I just can't stay away from navys and blacks for too long is because I think they stand out against the bright colors of summer. Not to mention I'm painfully pale no matter how hard I try and some times colors wash out any color I've got, and that's not a lot.

I love this dress but it's not quite my size. The Peter Pan collar and button detail on the back closure are so darling, but the hips are a bit on the large side and I don't fill the dress in like it should be filled. I decided to add a belt to give myself a more flattering silhouette. The belt makes it bunch a bit more than I'd like. The dress is far too beautiful to ruin by trying to take it in myself, so I'm holding off for a bit of spare cash to get it taken in.

I think I'm going to try harder to stay away from such dark colors during the day and look out for more light floral prints. Oh and I'm going to work on my tan.

What I'm Wearing:
Dress: Vintage.
Belt: lovely old Chinatown.

What I'm Listening To:
"Sometime Around Midnight" Airborne Toxic Event

Photos by Anjuli.Aurorahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12655564894615535520noreply@blogger.com2
